2014 started with a 4 days mountain trek

It's been a while since my last blog entry. Here's a new one with more pictures from the Bulgarian mountains.
I'm still unemployed therefore have plenty of free time and we decided with two friends to do a short 4 days trek in Stara planina. We took the train from Sofia to Kazanlak and then the bus to the small village of Skobelovo. The first day we walked less than 5 hours and arrived at hut Mazalat around 5 pm. The weather was very good and we enjoyed the views.

The 2nd day started early in the morning with breakfast and another 4.5 hours of walking to hut Uzana. We checked in, left our big backpacks and went to the nearby mount Ispolin. Since it was still early to have dinner we had one last walk near the hut to check where everybody else was skiing. There was not a lot of snow so the ski crowd was not very happy...

The 3rd day we once again left early and started our journey east. We stopped at mount Shipka and checked in the monument on our way to Buzludja. We arrived there early in the afternoon and went to the mount and the big communist monument after we left our baggage in the hut.

The last day was very calm and we needed less than 3 hours to reach Gabrovo. From there we took the bus to Sofia and made it home early in the afternoon, ready to take care of business!
